Severe weather season is year-round in the Tri-State, but we are approaching the busiest time of the year--spring and early summer. We rely on reports from spotters to confirm what we see on radar here at 14 First Alert and also at the National Weather Service in Paducah. Spotter training sessions are free of charge and usually last about 2 hours. You'll learn basic meteorology, cloud identification and typical situations where severe weather would occur. You'll also watch some great videos that will help you tell dangerous weather from "ominous" clouds. Here are some upcoming sessions that will be offered around the Tri-State:
You should call the contact person in advance to reserve your spot. Some of the sessions fill up quickly, so you don't want to be turned away at the door. Good luck, and stay safe this season !
